As a Home-based Interviewer you will be required to conduct research and customer satisfaction telephone interviews/surveys to B2B or B2C clients. All surveys are conducted online using our web-based system and are scripted to ensure consistency and integrity in the research. The calls will be made from either a client list or qualified list that can cover a wide range of professional levels. All calls are recorded for quality assurance and client review.

Position Accountabilities

—   Meeting performance goals and standards consistently.

—   Engaging respondents in the survey/interview.

—   Performing the survey/interview by following the script, yet keeping the call more conversational rather than robotic, while remaining objective and neutral so as not to influence survey responses.

—   Accurately capture and type survey responses in a clear and understandable fashion in full sentences with proper capitalization, punctuation and spelling.

—   Escalating customer service issues to manager when appropriate.

—   Scheduling a callback at a more convenient time for the respondent and keeping that appointment.

—   Maintaining home computer and internet service to ensure good functionality.

Position Requirements

As an Interviewer, you must display exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to speak clearly and be easily understood over the telephone is required. You must be well-spoken, professional and able to deal tactfully and diplomatically with a wide variety of people. While we offer a flexible schedule, you must be available for work consistently and for a minimum of 20 hours per week. Calling times and days vary depending upon our clients and the project you are assigned to; however we are looking for availability for a 4 hour period each day on Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

—   Specific requirements include:

o   A minimum 2 years prior customer service, call center or office experience with heavy telephone work.

o   Excellent computer skills.

o   Excellent typing skills.

o   Excellent command of English language including grammar and spelling.

o   Outstanding listening communication skills – both oral and written.

o   Ability to consistently represent our clients in a professional manner.

o   Provide a quiet work environment free from background noise, barking dogs, children, etc.

o   Solid work ethic and a commitment to reliability and high quality work.

o   Ability and desire to work as part of a team.

o   Ability to work independently and continue on task with little supervision.

o   Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

o   Windows based computer with high speed internet access and USB headset.

o   Ability to independently maintain home system in good working order.

o   High school degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

As an interviewer for Direct Opinions, you are able to work from your home, which provides savings for clothing, fuel, travel time, etc. You will receive training for each project that you are assigned. With the exception of your initial orientation and training, most future project training is done via Webex. You will be invited to occasionally attend Interviewer workshops where you will be taught interviewing techniques, market research project metric s, and more. We offer a unique opportunity to work for a variety of clients and industries while speaking with all levels of professionals. This is an ideal position for a college student (not living in a dormitory) or recent graduate, stay-at-home parent, or someone who would like to supplement another position with part-time work.


This position is a home-based job. The interviewer is asked to be available to attend meetings and workshops for training and new projects only occasionally in our Independence, Ohio office.


The Interviewer position reports to the Manager of Operations.


This is a part-time, hourly paid position. Starting hourly rates are based upon experience and skills.
